| 這部吉姆 Custom 出現在機動戰士 0083 一片之中，是屬於聯邦軍精銳部隊的座駕。在模型設計方面，這台 MG 級模型是借用高達 NT-1 的鋼模與 GM Quel 一起推出的商品，所以內裡沒有甚麼誠意可言。模型在 2000 年推出，我在 2001 年末時買下的，但因為質素不太好，多年來都只做了胸部的改造而一直擱在一旁。去年年尾是模型村七週年紀念，於是我趁它們搞的吉姆版聚機會，雖然我不能赴會但以此作為藉口把這盒模型完成了，就當了結一件心事！ | Hajime Katorki designed this GM for the Gundam OAV (Original Anime Video) Gundam 0083.It is an advanced version of the Type C GM. Moreover, GM Custom also inherits many design features from Gundam NT-1. Bandai released this MG model in 2000 along with the GM Quel. I bought this kit in 2001 but never had the nerve to finish it because it is quite poorly manufactured. In the fall of last year, Model Village called for a GM Gathering in early January 2007. Thus I took the chance and built this kit for the event. Otherwise it will sit on the shelf for another few years. |

| 模型的主要改造集中於胸部，下臂和腳板。上胸看上去比較細小，在製作 GM Quel 時以裝上 NT-1 的護甲這個方法去解決這問題。今次因為已用了 NT-1 的護甲，所以不能重施故技，亦不想自我重覆，因此上胸分別向左右、上下和前後三個方向加長了，令到它更配合左右雙肩龐大的護甲。另外胸前的排氣口因為想造得向前突出一點，所以用膠片向前延長了一點。但這樣做就要把排氣口先封上後「開窗」。為了方便工作，我把上胸與小腹頂鋸開了，中間加了一個球形關節接連。因為上胸加高了，所以胸前中間的駕駛艙亦要加長一點。最後我在頸下額外加了一個細小球形關節增加頭頸的活動能力。胸部之外，下盤股關節修窄了，以便雙腿更為靠攏。這部吉姆的手臂承接了 NT-1 的設計，所以做得很差。基本上我只把下臂加長了，臂彎的關節亦加粗了，以配合上下臂的粗度。 | It is high time to build the model. The chest is a headache because it is small when the shoulder armour is put on. Therefore I enlarged it in the three directions, namely height, width and depth. The two heat exhausts at the front were pulled forward a little as well. Since the chest's height was raised, the part at the centre front was elongated vertically. I also separated the chest and the abdomen for convenience; a new ball joint connected the two pieces. When it comes to ball joint, I also installed a small one at the base of the neck. In this way, the head can move to a greater extend. Extensive modifications do not limited to the upper body, I did some work on the structure of the hip as well (see the diagram below.) The lower arms of this model are another disaster because it is structurally complicated as well as ugly. At the end I managed to lengthen them and beef up the elbow joints. With bigger joints, the upper and lower arms look much better. |

| 模型原本的一雙腳板根本就不是動畫中的設定，只不過是萬代(Bandai)為了省錢而硬把 NT-1 的腳板放在這部吉姆身上；因此從一開始我就打算重造一對動畫版的腳板，而這對動畫版腳板除了可以用在這盒模型之外，還可以惠及 GM Quel 及 Hazel Gundam。而製造這對腳就差不多完全放棄了原本的一雙腳板，腳板的上半部我以 C 型吉姆的零件修改而成。腳板的下半部我用回原本模型的底板和不少造形畢地改造而成。這塊下半部的腳板沒有採用 C 型吉姆的零件，是因為開始製作時 C 型吉姆的模型還沒有推出！現在回想，如果用 C 型吉姆的下半部腳板製作應該可以比較省時。我曾經把 C 型吉姆的腳板安在這部 GM Custom 上，但見效果不好。而就算用上改造過的 C 型吉姆腳板或 C 型吉姆腳板換上坊間出產的腳底，效果仍然不理想。最後我發現， C 型吉姆的腳板短而不高；換言之用在這小腿粗壯的吉姆就太細小了，所以我把新的腳板造得長而高，就好像模型原本的一雙腳板一樣。 | The feet come with the model are not meant for GM Custom, they are made for Gundam NT-1 but Bandai, who tries to save some expenses, put the feet on this kit. Therefore I always want to remake the feet as are seen on TV. Since the two versions of the feet look very different, only some parts from the box were used to build the new one. (Yes, it is "one" not "ones" because I made only one foot and made a few copies using resin.) The upper part of the foot comes from the corresponding part in Type C GM. The "green" part was built using some parts of this GM Custom model and much polyester putty. The new green part is longer and higher than the counterpart on the Type C GM because the lower thighs of GM Custom are bigger than those of the Type C GM. Thus GM Custom needs bigger feet than the Type C GM. |

| 最後的改動是採用了 C 型吉姆宇宙版的長槍，不過我把它的承托支架改成可動式。另外我在模型的表面加上一些細部和一點刻線作裝飾。 | Finally I put the riffle from the kit of Space Type GM C on this model. However I changed the riffle stand to be completely movable. I also scribed some panel lines and put some accessories on the surface of the model. |

| 現在的塗裝潮流似乎返回以往的基本塗裝方法，所以這一次我沒有替這部吉姆噴上陰影。我還是首次沒有為 MG 模型噴陰影的！不過這部吉姆表面加了很多刻線和細部，另外用色上比較色彩豐富，所以塗裝方法上不用陰影也不會覺得太單調。當然，另外一個理由是時間緊迫，要趕在版聚前完成它，所以不噴陰影和用了郡氏的油性油去作塗裝。 | In the last few years, Japanese hobby magazines started featuring Gunpla models without painting shades. This is the reason for me not to paint this GM with shade. On top of that, this kit was built in a rush in order to meet the deadline of the GM Gathering; painting without shade and using GSI lacquer paint help. Nevertheless the model is quite suitable for not using shades because I scribed quite some panel lines and put some accessories on its surface. The three-colour scheme does not really need shades without making the model looks too plain as well. |
